On December 25, Filipino families will all gather in their homes to share sumptuous food and exchange gifts under the bright and colorful lights of Christmas lanterns – that's in the Philippines.
In the northern part of the United States, Canada, and Europe, Filipinos will build snowmen in front of their snow-covered lawns while wearing thick coats to shield themselves from December's cold. In the Middle East, after a hard day's work, Overseas Filipino Workers will wrap their Christmas presents and send them to their loved ones here in the country. Somewhere in Tokyo, lit up by dazzling lights, Filipinos will group together and say a prayer or two for more prosperous years to come.
In other parts of the US, Asia and the rest of the world Filipinos will organize a community and find a Priest in the area to have the traditional “Simbang Gabi” (Midnight Holy Mass). All over the world, the Filipino diasporas will celebrate the holidays in ways that is uniquely Filipino. Filipinos are no longer citizens of a restricted mass of land. Filipinos are citizens of the globe – and they're working very hard every day to make this world a much better place.
During her recent visit to the Philippines, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a forum, “One of the great exports of this country is your people, and everywhere I go in the world, I meet Filipinos who are doing everything, every kind of job, making every kind of contribution.” She absolutely nailed it on the head. What sets Filipinos apart is their passion and total dedication to their craft in the hope that they'll be able to secure a bright future for their families back home. For this and many other things, let me make it clear: I am a Filipino and I am proud to be one.
We are a fierce nation who doesn't think twice about competing against the best of the best in the globe. Today, aside from Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who provide crucial support to the economies of developed countries, there are many renowned Filipinos in different fields of endeavor. An easy case to point out is the amazing career of the best boxer in the world today, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, who many boxing analysts credit for reviving worldwide mainstream interest in the sport through his no-fear, all-action fighting style. Pacquiao has now conquered seven different weight classes – a historic feat no one else has accomplished before.
We can excel in every field, even the extremes. So as Pacquiao dominated the brutal world of boxing, so did Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda who became masters of the subtle art of music and vocalization. Charice is the singing child prodigy who was discovered by Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey, and who later performed onstage with the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli and David Foster. Arnel Pineda, of course, is the frontman and lead singer of the American rock band, Journey.
And let us not fail to mention the late former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino and her martyred husband, Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino – both icons of democracy. Ninoy's untimely death in the hands of the corrupt Marcos regime instigated the first People Power revolution, which later became the inspiration of non-violent demonstrations around the world, including those which ended Communist rule in Eastern Europe. Cory, the first elected woman head of state in all of Asia, also championed democracy, peace, and justice from the moment she took office 'til the day she passed away, leaving the country in tears of gratitude.
But it's the low-profile Filipinos who try every day to make a difference who are really the precious pearls of this nation. One of them is Efren Peñaflorida, Jr. who was named CNN Hero of the Year 2009 for his noble efforts to educate street children. There are many others like him in the 7,107 islands of the Philippines who are not yet recognized.
Aware of the immense and boundless potential of Filipinos we at Offshoring Inc. are daily pooling together the most highly skilled, competitive, and talented individuals in the country under one roof. We lease these individuals to clients who continually cite us for the high quality of our output. Here at Offshoring Inc., we showcase the Filipino because the Filipino is a first-rate worker and an excellent global citizen.
For this and many other reasons, let me say it again: I am a Filipino and I'm proud to be one.
Happy Holidays to all! Let us share our love and blessings this season, and may all our wishes come true this coming year.

satisfying results for the year 2009 despite the many challenges that
besieged the economy and the country. All in all, Offshoring Inc. remains
strong and flexible in its staff-leasing enterprise and ready to take
on the challenges of 2010.
Here
are the highlights of Offshoring Inc.'s performance for 2009.
February:
Love Month
Offshoring's
headquarters became red and pink as love was celebrated
in every corner. A Valentine's program
was prepared by Offshoring's administration for its employees,
including a dating game, which filled the air with fun
and romance.
May:
Countering Swine Flu
-
To
protect its workers from the threat of H1N1 and other
types of flu, Offshoring Inc. enlisted the help of medical
professionals from Home Health Care to administer flu
and pneumonia vaccines to
employees. The mission was a huge success, as the number
of employees who received vaccinations exceeded the number
of those registered.
June:
Domaining and Sports Fest
-
The
sales arm of Offshoring Inc. joined domainers, ad networks,
brand managers, and other entrepreneurs in Amsterdam
for the 2009
Targeted T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Convention.
Fruitful domaining always goes hand in hand with Web
development, and Offshoring Inc. has some of the best
Web developers in the world.
-
iWeblympics,
the first company-wide sports festival, was held at
RFM Gym in Mandaluyong City, about 15 minutes away
from Offshoring's headquarters. The colorful and competitive
sports fest aimed at building camaraderie among employees.
August:
Invading Trade Shows
Offshoring
Inc. joined affliate merchants and vendors in New York
for Affiliate
Summit East 2009. After
a few days, Offshoring was in San Jose, California for
the Search Engine Strategies (SES) 2009 Conference and
Expo. The company's highly skilled SEO Specialists, Programmers,
and Web Designers attracted a lot of people in these
events.
September:
Helping Employees Rebuild
-
Nature
flexed its powerful muscles as Typhoon
Ketsana,
aka “Ondoy,” unloaded record amounts of rainfall on
Metro Manila. Thousands of people were left homeless
as raging floods almost drowned everything in sight.
Offshoring Inc. rushed to help its employees by providing
them with survival packages and all the support they
could give.
October:
Monsters and MyWeb
-
MyWeb
Version 2,
the ERP system of Offshoring Inc., was launched. The
new software has better navigation, improved design,
and more dynamic modules for employees, clients, and
admin staff.
November:
Critical Decisions Made
-
From
Offshoring Inc.'s foundation in 2004 up to 2009, the
company’s Sales arm operated from its US headquarters
in Atlanta, Georgia. In November, the sales function
was moved to the Philippines to make information transfer
from sales to other local departments more efficient.
A local Sales Department was established, spearheaded
by Rian Jay
Hernandez, the new Sales Manager.
-
In
another crucial move to optimize its administrative staff,
Offshoring's Recruitment Department changed its name
to “Talent Acquisition”
to separate itself from the Human Resources Department,
which in turn changed its name to “Employee
Care.” The
decision was done to better distinguish each department's
role from the other, so both will serve their purposes
more effectively.
-
Finally,
the first ever strategic
planning of
Offshoring Inc. was held at Caliraya Recreation Center
in the province of Laguna. Mr. Angelito A. Cruz, Chief
Operating Officer, and all the department heads convened
to map out the future of the company.
December:
Rockin' Christmas Party and 5th Anniversary
-
Offshoring
Inc. is planning a rock-theme
Christmas party for
December 19. The company will also celebrate its 5th
anniversary and
some employees will be presented with the Employee of
the Year Award, Admin Staff of the Year Award, and 5
Years in Service to Offshoring Inc. Award.
2009:
The Proof of Offshoring Inc.'s Strength
2009
served as a measuring stick of just how resistant and at
the same time, flexible, Offshoring Inc.'s unique staff-leasing
business is. Sales and Talent Acquisition remain strong,
as both departments think of ways to further improve their
results for 2010. Employee Care has also done a great job
of addressing employees' needs while Operations were able
to expertly supervise accounts to meet their goals. The IT
Department had also upgraded many software and hardware units
to improve the performance of employees.
The
results are undisputable. They all indicate that Offshoring
Inc., which successfully transformed from a tiny business
to a powerful trendsetter in the BPO industry in just 5 years,
will continue to do so in the coming years. Now equipped
with the knowledge it needs to improve on its weaknesses
and capitalize on its strengths, and eyeing new and bigger
markets worldwide, Offshoring Inc. promises to be an even
bigger spectacle and wonder of BPO possibilities next year.

Employees partied
'til past midnight last December 19, 2009 during Offshoring Inc.'s
rock-themed Christmas party entitled “Jingle Bell Rock.” The
head-banging party was held at the Bramante Piazza Ballroom, Renaissance
Center, just a short distance away from Offshoring Inc.'s headquarters.
Aside from celebrating the holidays, the company also commemorated
its 5th anniversary as a trailblazing BPO company.
Rockin' Santa's
Socks Off
The rock theme
of the party was chosen through an online survey hosted on MyWeb,
Offshoring's dynamic ERP software. On the night of the party, employees
showed up in their darkest, most rugged rock star outfits, which
created the heavy-metal atmosphere in the venue. Many wore leather jackets,
some colored and messed their hair up, while others just went for the
most extreme and edgiest look possible.
The
program was hosted by Jumar Dolor of Plymouth, Kris Andres of 260.com
and Eden Solmila of Broadview Holdings. During the program, three bands,
which consisted of Offshoring's employees battled it out for musical
supremacy. Employees participated in games, wherein a lot of prizes were
given out, including DVD players and a 32-inch flat-screen LCD TV. The
two best dressed male and female employees of the night also won cool
prizes in the costume contest. Gift certificates were also given away
to many of the employees who attended the party.
The delicious
food that rocked everyone's senses was catered by Azzuro Bramante
Catering. At the end of the program, “Sleek” band performed chart-topping
hits that made everyone rush to the dance floor and go wild.
5
Years of Rockin' and Rollin' Staff-Leasing Services
While
the party was loud, there was also an unmistakable air of solemnity as
Offshoring Inc. celebrated its 5th anniversary as the number one staff-leasing
services provider in the industry. Mr. Angelito A. Cruz, Chief Operating
Officer, delivered an inspiring video message about the ongoing changes
in the company, the challenges of 2009, and Offshoring's readiness to
reach greater heights in 2010.
One highlight
of the program was the debut of the official corporate AVP of Offshoring
Inc. The AVP featured the company's innovative business model, its
services, and its strengths as a staff-leasing services provider. The
AVP will soon be uploaded on Offshoring Inc.'s website, so everyone can
view it.
In line with the
5th anniversary, loyalty awardees who've stayed in the company since
its inception were recognized and given prizes, including dazzling TIMEX
watches with especially inscribed Offshoring Inc. logos. As usual, the
Employee of the Year was chosen among many admirable candidates, and
the first ever Admin Staff of the Year award was also given. Both winners
in these two categories won gorgeous Sony VAIO laptops. More prizes were
given away to PA (perfect attendance) awardees and Early Bird winners, who
came to the party on the dot.

Offshoring
Inc. proved its strength and flexibility in 2009 but it will
try to break its records by working twice as hard in 2010.
To do this, the management held the first ever strategic
planning for the company from November 27-29 at Caliraya
Recreation Center and Resort in the province of Laguna, more
than two hours from Offshoring Inc.'s headquarters at Pasig
City. Mr. Angelito A. Cruz, Chief Operating Officer, together
with all department heads attended the conference, which
mapped out the future of the company.
Here's
a summary of each department's plans for 2010.
Sales:
Carefully Measured Steps for Growth
2010
is looking bright in terms of sales, as the newly established
local Sales Department in the Philippine headquarters is
absolutely ready to deliver great results for the company.
Rian Jay Hernandez, new Sales Manager, promised that his
extremely capable team is going to beat this year's numbers.
Their plan consists of evaluating specific strategies implemented
by the US sales arm, and using knowledge gained from that
as a measuring stick to determine which sales strategies
will produce more concrete results for the company. They
also aim to invigorate the SEO of Offshoring's website.
Talent
Acquisition: Intensification of Promotions
Talent
Acquisition functioned very well in 2009. Paul Christian
C. Ruiz, Senior Manager for Employee Care and Talent Acquisition,
plans to work more closely with Sales nex year to provide
highly skilled staff to clients on time. There is also a
plan to speed up recruitment processes and intensify various
promotional strategies of the company.
Employee
Care: Employees' Needs are Front and Center
Ms.
Ajel Olaguer, Employee Care Officer, plans to create a more
enjoyable work environment for employees next year, as well
as increase the speed of response from Employee Care personnel
to employees' queries. Employee Care will also revitalize
its preparations for annual events, such as the iWeblympics
sports fest and iWebmonsters Halloween party.
Operations:
Closer Supervision and Management
Jaymie
Pelaez, Morning Shift Supervisor, and Adelina Rada, Night
Shift Supervisor, have both done an excellent job of supervising
the various accounts the company takes care of. During the
company's strategic planning, both outlined tactics to further
improve operations management. They plan to coordinate closely
with the IT Department next year to reduce technical problems,
which may hinder the accomplishment of daily tasks. An enhanced
orientation program is also being prepared to make employees
more aware of all the resources at their disposal upon getting
hired at Offshoring Inc.
IT
Department: Hardware and Software Upgrades
All
over Offshoring's offices, employees are gradually availing
of different hardware and software upgrades spearheaded by
the IT Department. Brix Sanga, Systems Administrator, vowed
that his team would respond faster next year to IT Tickets
(requests of IT support from employees). To make Offshoring's
IT structure even more secure, the IT Department promised
to install better software and hardware in 2010.
Short-Term
and Long-Term Goals Firmly Established
From
the moment Offshoring's administration staff reached Caliraya,
they went immediately to work. The Mission and Vision of
the company were reviewed and revised to better reflect the
present form of Offshoring Inc. Each department's accomplishments
for 2009 were reviewed while everyone took note of their
strengths and weaknesses. Short-term goals were established,
as well as long-term goals. Specific, time-bound plans of
action were laid out to firmly guide the future actions of
the company.
After
three days of passionate discussion, brainstorming, and planning,
Offshoring's management came up with detailed plans to secure
Offshoring's position as the number one staff-leasing services
provider in the industry. Finally, Offshoring Inc. is now
ready to break new ground, again, in 2010.
