Call Center Outsourcing Services in the Philippines

October 9, 2006

A Word from a Call Center Representative: BPO Uplifts Many Lives

In recent years, call center outsourcing services in the Philippines has become the offshore destination of choice, specializing in customer support services. Because of the Filipinos’ high level of English proficiency and strong customer orientation, many leading multinationals have used the Philippines as a global center for customer service.

However, the main motivation for call center outsourcing services in the Philippines is for international businesses to effectively minimize production costs and maximize profits.

While costs are lower from the point of view of the U.S. companies, we, the skilled and knowledgeable workers in developing countries, are benefited by the increase in our incomes since our current salaries for local work are still lower compared to the workers of developed countries. Salaries in the Philippines are 50% to 80% less than in the U.S.

Although some developing countries do charge lower than the Philippines — for example, for data encoding work, another country charges around US$4 versus $10 in the Philippines — more multinationals are choosing the Philippines because of much higher quality of work. We Filipinos make good customer service agents not only because we are fluent in American English but also because of our helpful and friendly nature.

Having discovered the potential growth of the call center outsourcing services in the Philippines, the government and private sector have taken measures to further attract foreign investors. An Executive Order is enacted making English the medium of instruction for all educational levels and institutions. At present, a Commission on Information and Communications Technology oversees the ICT sector in partnership with the private ICT organizations and associations - but to focus more on the emerging industry, Congress proposes the creation of an independent body, the Department of Information and Communications Technology from the National Computer Center under the DOTC.

The government is also implementing systems to better mobilize the Technical Skills Development Authority, Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education to speed up the setting of training infrastructure for call center agents. And lastly, new curricula and training centers within educational institutions like the Call Center Academy and the Avaya Customer Contact Training Center are being instituted.

The call center industry demonstrates its dynamism through Offshoring, Inc, an American owned and managed staff leasing company that can best innovate and adapt to a large number of clients and their requirements.

Aside from call center services, Filipinos are also very competitive in other BPO services. These include higher value added professional services such as that of writers, graphic designers, programmers, media managers, quality assurance representatives and data entry clerks among others.  These offshore professional and call center outsourcing services in the Philippines can be developed further by Offshoring, Inc.

Offshoring, Inc has a tremendous pipeline for talent and skill. The company can get different types of positions catering to the clients’ needs. Filipinos have one of the strongest work ethic and commitment to do the job to the best of their abilities. Offshoring, Inc offers a vast collection of tools, methodologies, training and efficient services to better help businesses achieve the greatest possible return on their offshore investment.
